EGGERT PÉTURSSON

Eggert Pétursson (b. 1956) is renowned for his intense focus on Icelandic flora. His paintings, which capture the minute tundra flowers of Iceland's seemingly desolate landscapes, create a mesmerizing effect. Pétursson's art ranges from highly detailed, realistic plant depictions to more abstract compositions, where layers of paint add a relief-like quality. His deep dedication to Icelandic traditions has established him as one of the country's most cherished landscape and lyrical artists. Pétursson resides and works in Reykjavik and has earned a reputation as one of Iceland‘s most beloved artists. He studied at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts in Reykjavik and the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. Pétursson has exhibited at The Living Art Museum, the Reykjavik Art Museum, Museum Fodor in Amsterdam, and the Pori Art Museum in Finland. In 2006, he was awarded second prize at the Carnegie Art Award, with exhibitions held in Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Reykjavik, Copenhagen, and Nice.
